Shashi Saklani is an IRS officer of 2004 batch and hails from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. He has served in the Income Tax Department in various capacities including in areas like International Taxation, Investigation, Assessment and Administration. His work has figured in 3 editions of the Departmental publication on best practices – ‘Let Us Share’. Sh. Saklani has also served as First Secretary in the High Commission of India, Singapore for 3 years where he dealt with India-Singapore economic relations. He was involved in bringing into effect the Third Protocol to the India-Singapore Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement DTAA which was a watershed in the bilateral tax agreement. After completion of his tenure in Singapore, Shri Saklani joined at the National Academy of Direct Taxes at Nagpur and is currently posted as Additional Director in charge of Information & Communication Technology related work of the Academy. He was also the Course Director of Orientation Programme -2019. Shri Saklani, who is an Engineering graduate in Electronics & Telecommunication, is a certified Yoga Instructor and is also currently pursuing a Masters in Yoga. Other than having a keen interest in sports like table tennis, billiards and basketball, Shri Saklani is an avid nature lover and a life enthusiast. He is currently pursuing the Masters of Public Administration Economic Policy Management from Columbia University, New York as a Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholar. | |
