Shri. V. Roy Jose is an officer of 2002 batch of IRS and is a native of Kasargod, Kerala. He graduated in Political Science with Gold Medal from Calicut University. He also completed his post-graduation in Political Science with Gold Medal from Kerala University. He has done his M. Phil in Political Science from J.N.U, New Delhi. He has served the Department in various capacities in the field of Assessment, Investigation, Administration, etc. He worked as the Addl. Director of Income Tax [Investigation], [Unit-1&2,] Chennai for two years before joining NADT in June 2017. During his stint as Additional Director of Income tax [Investigation], the total cash seizure from searches conducted by the units headed by him was to the tune of Rs 324 Crores, in addition to seizure of Gold/bullion worth 90 Crores, which is a record seizure by any unit of the investigation wing of the department. The above searches also resulted in disclosure to the tune of 2100 crores. He also supervised extremely sensitive searches which included searches on sitting ministers and serving Chief secretary of the state of Tamilnadu. He has also received the ECI- National Award -2016 from the President of India for his contribution for effectively preventing the misuse of black money in the General Election to Tamilnadu Legislative Assembly 2016. He has interest in Sports, Music and Literature. He was the Course Director of the Orientation Programme-2018. He was promoted as the Commissioner of Income Tax in April 2021.
