Event Description: The Social Welfare Club organised a health camp on 19th April 2016. It was organised in the Slum area in the Santara Market near the railway station. Camp was organised from 9am to 11:30am. The information about the camp was spread among the people a day in advance. It was second such camp organised at the venue, the earlier one being organised on 31st of January 2016. It was a part of our commitment to the said slum area towards improving health, cleanliness and education there. The camp was organised in association with the NGO UPAY that is working for the education of kids there. More than 200 patients were examined in the camp and free medicines were distributed. A few patients with advanced ailments were referred to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Nagpur. Women and Children constituted the majority. Deworming of the children was done in general. Like before, Generic Medicines were procured from the Wholesale distributor. The camp could be possible only because of the participation of the Doctors and Volunteers of our batch and support extended to us by the administration of NADT. The doctors who volunteered are Dr. Abhijeet Kumar Gautam, Dr. Bhagirath Ramawat, Dr. Karthik N, Dr. Kamalasini, Dr. Milind Debaje, Dr. Sushil Shendge and Dr. Sumit Jha. The volunteers who participated were Abhinav Goel, Ashish Kumar, Bimalendu Tudu, Chinmay Anand Jain, Gaurav Singh, Harimohan Dubey, Ketan Gajjar and Reghu M. The Course Director of the 69th Batch Sri Shri Prakash Dubey was also present at the camp and provided us with various valuable suggestions. We have identified cleanliness as the biggest challenge and reason for many diseases. The Club has vowed to carry out Cleanliness drive in the area after returning from the OJT. In the mean while the Club is working towards the immunisation of the kids of the area.
